   I believe that matching Persian rugs symbolize more than aesthetic harmony—they reflect a deep cultural appreciation for symmetry and balance. But could the obsession with identical pairs inadvertently diminish the uniqueness of each handmade piece? Are we valuing perfect sameness over the individual stories woven into each rug?

     I would like to explain that the value of a matching pair of Persian rugs is generally greater than the value of a single rug. While I understand your point that an individual Persian rug can be highly valuable on its own, a true matching pair is much rarer. Because it is uncommon to find two identical rugs that have remained together over time, collectors and buyers often place a premium on a genuine pair, making it more valuable than the sum of its individual pieces.

     This is similar to other collectible items, where completeness and rarity significantly enhance value. Over the years, many pairs become separated, making surviving matched pairs increasingly scarce. Their rarity, combined with their decorative symmetry and desirability for furnishing formal spaces, often results in stronger demand and higher market value.
