In our expert opinion, underlay is necessary for a rug! Depending on the floors you have in place, you will need a different type of underlay!
The underlay for the hard floors is made of pure rubber ( the type I keep in stock. Different dealers different qualities!), and for carpeted floors you need a type of sticky underlay ( this type of underlay needs to be replaced every couple or even three years.).
The reason we recommend underlay for rugs are as followed;
-Your rug would not walk, or slide (depending on the floor)!
-Safer!
– Looks better!
-Your rug will maintain its look for longer period of time!
